First J. Lewis Signon, Jr. Senior Scholar for the ABFM.
David Loxterkamp, MD became the first J. Lewis Signon, Jr. Senior Scholar chosen by the American Board of Family Medicine. Dr. Loxterkamp visited the home office in Lexington, KY for 2 weeks in early April, 2014.
His focus was two-fold: to provide input to the specialty-wide efforts to redefine the purpose and direction of family medicine within the wider system of American healthcare (Future of Family Medicine v2.0); to offer a narrative companion interpretation to a statistical analysis on the breadth of services in family medicine that is being conducted by the Robert Graham Center in Washington, D.C.
He worked under James C. Puffer, M.D., President and C.E.O., and more closely with Lars Peterson, M.D., Director of Research.
